Kolkata witnessed its biggest historic mega rally – ‘Janagarjan Sabha’ on Sunday (March 10) today amidst the presence of lakhs of supporters and Trinamool Congress leaders. 

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee took the centre stage as prime speakers to launch its Lok Sabha election campaign for this year with the mega rally.

Labelling BJP leaders as “outsiders and anti-Bengal”, Abhishek at the Brigade rally said that they only visit the state before and during elections.

Addressing ‘Jana Garjan Sabha’ rally at Brigade Parade grounds, he said, “This rally is for all – TMC supporters, OBC, Adivasis, Maa Maati manush and all those who have faith in us. This rally – ‘Jana Garjan’ signifies roaring of the masses, that highlights the importance of raising people’s voice to address their deepest problems and fight against the nuisance Bharatiya Janata Party has been doing here since ages.”

“It aims to defeat BJP and oust the party out of Bengal who failed to keep their promises for the welfare of the state. Modi ki guarantee has zero warranty. Only Mamata Banerjee has kept her promises as she facilitated provisions such as ‘Laxmi Bhandar’, Kanyasree’, free ration services, swastha sathi cards and many others, the party’s general secretary added.

Soon after, Mamata Banerjee took the stage to set the tone for the upcoming elections.

Speaking in one voice as Abhishek, the TMC supremo said, “BJP is insensitive to my state’s people. Where is Modi ka guarantee? It delivers zero warrantee. The party kept on increasing LPG gas cylinder prices over the last four years and dropped its rate by Rs 100 just before the elections. They will again shoot up its prices once the polls are over.”

While focussing on BJP’s failure to provide benefits to the people of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee further added, “We will provide housing facilities to 11 lakh people if BJP fails to do so by May 1. Modi government also withheld the income of 69 lakhs people for 100 days work.  The BJP could not even protect the people of Manipur when it was burning. We are there to support Bengalis, Nepali, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Gorkhas, Jains and everyone from Bengal.”

Mamata concluded the mega rally by chanting ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Joy Bangla’ and ‘Jai Hind’, followed by the national anthem.
